Obituary of Edward Francis Stephenson

September 3, 1954 – New Waterford, Nova Scotia

May 7, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Edward Stephenson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the age of 68 years, after a long struggle with heart failure. 

Born in New Waterford, NS, on September 3, l955, he attended St. Agnes schools and Xavier College in Sydney, NS.

Eddie came to Calgary in 1974 and worked in construction for almost forty years.  He was a member of the Construction and General Workers Union, Local 92. Eddie loved all sports, and was a fervent fan of the Calgary Flames, Toronto Blue Jays, and Miami Dolphins. 

He is survived by his son, Thomas, stepdaughter, Rio Mitchell, brothers, Father Bill and Paul, both of Calgary; siblings, Michael, Carmel (Jack) Coffin, Fidel (Ann), Brenda (George Milburn), Bernadette (Wally) Foley, David (Anna), and Pius (Gail), all of Nova Scotia; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Fidelis and Florence; brothers, Art, Ron, Thomas (in infancy); and sister-in-law, Marilla.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside Memorial, 5388 Memorial Drive, Calgary, AB T2A 3V9) on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass and burial will take place this summer in New Waterford.
