Condolences
I offer my condolences to Fred's family and all who knew and loved him. Fred was a sterling example of the the kind of person we in Alberta need in our communities, in our governments and in our lives. A joy to be with. A man with a fine mind and a good heart.
He brought his best self to the public square, the ministries he led and the governments he served. I am thankful for his presence in my life and for his service to Alberta.
Thinking of you all, Doug, Rosemarie and Family, at this sad time. Such great memories of you all coming to visit at the ranch. He will be missed.
The passing of my Uncle, Fred Stewart leaves a profound sense of loss in our family. My fondest memories of my uncle were the visits of our families between Calgary and Lethbridge. Whenever I think of my Uncle Fred I picture the wide smile that lit up his face and his laugh which came often and was so infectious. I lovingly recall the times he and his brother Don, my father, would be together sharing jokes and general silliness in that special way brothers have. They truly loved being with each other. It was so sad that they were unable to share time together in their latter years, both having succumbed to dementia with Don losing the battle just a bit more than a year ago. I was so proud of my uncle and his achievements in both the legal and political arenas and he will be sorely missed. My love and condolences to Douglas Stewart and his family at this time of sorrow.
Deepest Condolences to Douglas, Rosemarie and all the family. You are in our thoughts.
I wanted to take a moment and share how important Fred was in my life. As a mentor he taught me so much about what it was to be a leader and how to treat those around you. He was a gentlemen in the best use of the term and I never saw him angered or irrational. As a politician he saw his role as supporting his government, party and mostly his constituents. He took a chance on me after I worked against him in his nomination and gave me opportunities and direction. Whatever success I've had in politics connect back to him and I have so many fond memories.
Thank you Doug for sharing your father with so many of us and thank you to your family for supporting him through everything.
Pete and Anne Hanson and family send love and hugs to Doug, Rose and all the family. When Anne, Fred, and Donald were children they spent many happy hours on the ranch in Eastend, Saskatchewan. These are fond memories for Anne. Fred and Don were like 2 more brothers to her. The Saskatchewan Stewarts/Hanson's have many good memories of Fred and his family throughout the years.
