Obituary of Carmelina Corasiniti
November 26, 1949 – Staletti, Catanzaro, Italy
October 11, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Carmelina Corasiniti passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the age of 73 years. She was born in Staletti, Catanzaro, Italy. Carmela was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
In her younger days, Carmelina worked evenings as a cleaner and raised her family during the daytime. She was an amazing cook and spent countless hours sharing her beautifully made dishes with the ones she loved. Recipes that her kids will have for a lifetime. Some of Carmela’s greatest achievements were becoming a Canadian Citizen, voting for the first time, raising her children, and spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
Carmela is survived by her two sons Giovanni (daughter-in-law Lee-Ann), Rocco (daughter-in-law Andrea); her daughter Maria, her six grandchildren Matthew, Sophie, Domenico, Angelo, Giulia, and Isabelle; along with her four brothers Antonio (sister-in-law Melinda), Franco (sister-in-law Laura), Salvatore (sister-in-law Anna), Raffaele, and sister Pasqualina (brother-in-law Rosario).
When she was not making one of her famous Italian meals, Carmela enjoyed drives out to the mountains, dining out and shopping trips to the mall or the farmers market with her children. One of her greatest memories was going back home to Italy with her brother Antonio and her son Rocco to visit her family and friends. They explored the beautiful culture of Calabria, while listening to her reminisce of her childhood days. She cherished those moments.
