Condolences
Dear Irene,
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family on the death of Bill. May your faith, fond memories, family ,friends, and cherished memories bring you strength and comfort.
Lea and Orist
Bill was the son of my father’s twin brother, Gordon, and the only male in our generation of the Turner family. He was also twenty years older than my sister and me, and stories of “Billy’s” achievements formed a strong thread in our childhood. We always looked up to him. I didn’t know him personally at that time, but I feel very lucky to have got to know him better in adulthood. I found him warm and friendly; he loved to laugh, and he was unfailingly interesting to talk with. I remember I had just received a Karl Marx board game when he visited me and my father in Victoria, and that sparked off some very good discussions (I remember thinking, “For someone so conservative, he’s incredibly open-minded!”). He came to a party in my basement apartment in Toronto, after which my friends kept asking me when he was going to come back again. My husband and I enjoyed visiting him and Irene in Mississauga, Ottawa and Invermere, and we were always struck by his warmth, his powerful intelligence, his sense of social responsibility and the tender-hearted way he loved his family. I know you will all miss him deeply. The death of someone like Bill truly leaves the world a poorer place.
Bill was such an interesting man and I feel so fortunate to have got to know him a bit in the last 2.5 years. He had a wonderful sense of being blessed with a wonderful family, career and a myriad of experiences over a well-lived lifetime. Since Bill's passing, I have since learned so many more things about his life that I wish I had known and had the chance to talk to him about. He is already missed. May the peace of Christ be upon his loving family at this difficult time. I look forward to meeting Bill again.
Warm Regards,
Stephen Harris
Bill was a friend and special mentor to me. His love for golf was contagious and he was always ready for a round of golf. He also enjoyed helping the communities where they lived and maintaining the little “Stolen Church” in Windermere to keep it in top shape. My sincere condolences go out to Irene and family. Bill will be missed.

Bill was always an interesting and positive individual. We met the Turner’s in Invermere 20 years ago. We played golf, cards, had meals together and visits both in Invermere and Mesa. We discovered that Bill worked with several of our neighbors in Calgary and were able to reconnect Bill with them. Our prayers are with Bill and Irene and their family. We were blessed to have known Bill and Irene!
