Condolences
Like, Don Stone, I met Hope through our mutual friends, Aileen Ellis and Freda Abrahamson, in Vancouver in the 70's or 80's. Hope was a unique person and I felt privileged to be her friend. Before social media was popular, we corresponded in longhand, cursive writing. Hope's letters were always a treat and almost as good as being with her. She was on top of all the issues of the day and always had a good book on the go and loved to discuss both. When Freda relocated to Calgary, my annual visits to see her were never complete without a visit to see Hope.
I thank those who put the video together of Hope, it was lovely to see her 'through the years'.
I have fond memories of time spent with Hope.
May she rest in peace.
Warmly, Sylvia Korteling, West Vancouver, BC
Deepest condolences to Hope's family on the loss of a terrific woman. I first met Hope in the early 1980s when she came to visit her dear friend, Aileen Ellis, in Vancouver. I was immediately struck by Hope's warmth, wit and inquisitiveness – traits that remained throughout the time I had the pleasure of knowing and communicating with her. We chatted fairly regularly on the phone until she was no longer able to hold the phone in her hand. I had the privilege of visiting Hope in the care facility in mid September. Hope was of sound mind and was as inquisitive as ever. We shared a few chuckles of our past experiences together. I will miss those regular chats. Hope was 'one of a kind'. The photos in the video presentation captured Hope's personality, graciousness and style. May she rest in peace.
