Obituary of Kenneth Richard Hayes

Kenneth Hayes beloved husband of Jeanette Hayes (nee Donald) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

Ken was born in Byemoor, AB, on November 16, 1934, to Jack and Lena Hayes and into a large family of brothers and sisters. He married Jeanette and they had three sons. Ken loved visiting family and friends for many years. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed working in the construction industry with jobs taking him around the Province of Alberta. In his younger years, Ken was very involved with his community doing coaching of his children’s sports teams and volunteering.

He will be most remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ken was also known for his sense of humour and his story telling which led to many laughs by Jeanette and all others in the room. He will be greatly missed.

Besides his loving wife Jeanette of 67 years, Ken is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, whom all reside in Calgary, Danny and Norma, Duncan and Karen, and Kent and Marion; his grandchildren, James and fiancée Tessa, Cheryl, Sara, Meagan, Kurt and wife Jennifer, Brent, Colton and fiancée Aly, Kendal and fiancée Nichelle; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Katelyn, Keydan, Charlie, Hannah, and Rowan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who always enjoyed his company. Ken was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, his sisters, and many of his in-laws.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held on December 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Marda Loop Community Association, 3130 – 16 Street SW Calgary, AB. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Kenneth’s family here.
