Obituary of Roger Lucas Knight
November 28, 1933 - Hepworth, Ontario
November 4, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Beloved Roger Knight, loving husband, best friend, and soulmate of the late Anne Knight of 64 years, loving father to Carmen (David); loved and proud papa to Ashton (Steve), Kyle and great papa to Bernhard. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Lori Lynn; and brothers, Lowell, and Foster.
Roger loved working with his hands. He was skilled and clever, knowledge gained through his life experience living and working across the many provinces of Canada: master carpenter, mechanic, farming, helmsman of an oil tanker, contractor, and he could fix or build anything he had an interest in.
Roger lived every day of his life on his own terms. Though he was strong willed and stubborn at times, he always held a deep love for his family and those close to him. He enjoyed sharing a drink and engaging in discussions about current events, politics, social issues, and life experiences. Roger loved the frequent gatherings of family and friends that his one and only true love Anne put together at a moment’s notice and the memories, friendship and love that followed. He was a lifelong devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witness Organization.
In typical Roger fashion, there are no services by his request, certainly no pomp and circumstance. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Roger’s family here.
We would like to express our warmest and deepest appreciation for the extraordinary loving care and support that was given to Roger on a daily basis by the entire staff at the Intercare Chinook Care Centre. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
In living memory of Roger Knight, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
