Obituary of Narsingh Nath Bhargava

May 21, 1929 – Agra, India

November 17, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Narsingh Nath Bhargava (Papa) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 17, 2023.

Born in Agra, India, on May 22, 1931, he came to Canada in 1993 to be with his daughters and their families.  In India, he owned and managed successful businesses.

A committed son, husband, father, and grandfather, Papa was always there to guide, support, inspire, and encourage his family members and loved ones.

He was tuned into world affairs and actively watched Indian political developments.

A voracious solitaire and chess player, movie watcher, and reader of crime novels, he never sat idle. His family admired his punctuality, discipline, organizational abilities, and boundless caregiving to family and others in need.

Papa had a beautiful smile. This is and will be missed by his entire family.

Narsingh is survived by his wife of 70 years of marriage, Prema; his four kids and their spouses, Abha (Sudeep), Anil (Bhavna), Smita (Amitabh), Leena (Sanjay); and grandkids Aditya (Elizabeth), Anant (Neha), Amol (Alysha), Nidhi (Kanishk), Poorva (Nilayam), Anirudh, Supriya (Lucas) and Meghan.  He had yet to meet his only great-grandchild, Kabir. He is fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Anami (Thillotama) and Prakash (Kumud).

He is predeceased by his sisters-in-law Suman and Gura; brothers Gopinath, Raghuvir, and Purshottam; sisters Asharfi and Godavari and their spouses.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Calgary Crematorium, 3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Narsingh family here.
