JL was a farmer, businessman and entrepreneur; he belonged to the Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus and was a former Town Councillor. Hockey was a big part of John’s life and he excelled at it. He played for many teams in the Peace Country but loved his Spirit River Rangers for whom he was a player, coach and executive. John met Barb while working on the railroad and playing hockey for the McLennon Red Wings and that is where their story began. John loved his church and loved Spirit River. He enjoyed working hard his entire life and qualified as a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, one of the highest achievements possible in life insurance sales.
John had unbelievable love for all his family and had a special bond with his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces. He had a way of making everyone feel like they were his favorite and in his mind we all were. John had an unbeatable sense of humour and a million jokes ready to tell at any time.
