Condolences
We are deeply sorry to hear about the death of Fritz.
Fritz was a lovely person. He invited us to spend our honeymoon with him in 1994 and he was a wonderful host. We will not forget him.
Our thoughts are with his family in these difficult times.

Fritz was a "constant" in our life and family. He and Horst met in 1955 in Pirmasens, Germany. Fritz was always a great sport and ready to partake in any adventure. For example: when the 3 friends first arrived in Edmonton with no money. To save the precious dollars on a 2 room for the night, Fritz had to get up the escape ladder to spend the night illegally with his friends in one room. He loved flowers and was generous with them. He, (a second required witness, plus his wife and baby) and the Pastor were the only people in church when Horst and I (Val) got married. When our first child was ready to be born, he drove me to the hospital. (Horst was working). A very strange coincidence was that on that same day, his future wife also had a baby. Fritz lived with us after we bought our first house until he moved to Calgary to operate the Doughnut-shop, which he eventually took over.
Fritz Georg Lotz
Fritz’s life began in Germany in 1935; mine began only a year later in the United States in 1936. Our lives however remained unconnected for decades until we met at his home in Calgary, Alberta. I owe that meeting to his daughter Kirsten who later married my son Michael and she became a daughter-in-law.
I suspect that a lot of people felt the way I did about Fritz. We sensed his bravery and ability to make things happen. He was personable, likeable and talented in many ways, yet I had no idea at first of just how deep a person he was. I owe Fritz for a lot probably, but one of his greatest gifts was Kirsten. Through her the rest of us unknowingly came to know Fritz and the creativity he could impose on simple things like food, games and relationships; like no other.

Our love and thoughts to all of Fritz's family. Fritz, Brian and Betty will miss you.
After hearing that Fritz had passed away I got thinking about the good times we had.
I realized I had known him for many years.
At first when I worked at a bakery in Calgary and Fritz being the sales rep for K&R. Such a kind and gentle man; we always had a little chat.
After changing jobs I started working at a restaurant where I met my wonderful and longtime friend Kirsten, Fritz’s daughter!!
So cool. Over the years got to meet the rest of the family. Happy and fond memories guys!
Now at this difficult time I’m sending you heartfelt condolences across the miles.
Prost Fritz, rest in peace. You’ll be missed!

Kirsten, Melanie and families,
Saddened and so very sorry to learn of the death of your father. I have many warm memories of Fritz over many years. I liked him very much. His affinity for wine I remember well and I was privileged that he shared many of his efforts with me. He will be missed. I wish you and your families the very best at this difficult time.
Darrell
