Obituary of Ron Mann
March 7, 1942 - Winnipeg, Manitoba
December 1, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather Ronald “Ron” Valentine Mann of Calgary, AB, on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the age of 81 years.
Ron was born on March 7, 1942 in Winnipeg, MB, and lived most of his life in Winnipeg, MB, until just recently when he moved to Calgary, AB, to be closer to his son, and grandchildren.
Ron worked his entire career in Sales, first for Manitoba Sausage Company, and later for Old Dutch Foods. He was a wonderful salesman, he loved to talk and found it very easy to talk to anyone about anything.
Ron loved fishing it was his passion. In the summer, every weekend was spent at Camp Hide Away in his boat on the Lee River, and in the winter sitting by a hole on Lake Winnipeg. He was a good fisherman and his family always looked forward to his yearly visits, and the pickerel that he would bring them. In his retirement years when the fish weren’t biting, he was able to put both his love for talking and fishing together, and worked occasionally at the Pro Am Tackle and Marine in Transcona where his many customers would enjoy his knowledge and fishing stories.
He is survived by his wife Doris of 63 years, Son Darren (Cheryl), and grandchildren Brandyn (Danielle), Breanne, and Courtney; two great-grandchildren Oaklynn, and Weston; He is also survived by his sister-in-law Gladys, Alice, and Grace; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Valentin and Mary (nee Adam) Mann, brother Norman, sisters-in-law Terry, and Eva; brothers-in-law Jerry, Raymond, Joe, Ralph, and Rudy; nephews Brian Mann, Robert Chamberlain, Kelly and Alan Gosselin.
“Dad even though we cannot see you, your picture is forever saved in our Hearts.”
