Obituary of Andrew Duncan Colin Inglis
November 30, 1946 - December 8, 2023
Colin Inglis, beloved husband of Faye Inglis (Felstead), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 77 years.
Colin was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on November 30, 1946. He attended high school at Luther College in Regina and went on with his studies graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math/Computer Science. He was granted a scholarship to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton.
Colin married Faye in 1970 and they moved to Calgary, residing there until his passing.
Colin enjoyed, loved, and had a passion for his family, friends, lake life at Sylvan Lake, and running. He especially loved running in Fish Creek Park because of the multiple trails and challenges it offered him. He completed 5 full marathons. Noteworthy was the marathon he ran alongside his best friend, Jeff Pinder, In San Francisco when they were both 50 years old.
In his retirement, Colin earned a role at the Mount Royal University in Calgary, teaching and mentoring IT skills to young academics. In addition, he became a volunteer driver for the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, driving cancer patients to and from their treatment appointments. He talked about the wonderful stories of connection with these seemingly strangers, at times sharing/swapping stories with fellow Saskatchewan-born folks about “the old country”.
Colin’s favourite saying was “Oofta” a Scandinavian saying he learned from Faye’s father. He often said, “What goes around comes around.” He taught his children, both as kids and again as adults, to “do good in the world” and “offer help when you can.”
Besides his loving wife Faye, Colin is survived by son Nathan, son Jordan, son Cam, and daughter Cinder.
Colin is also survived by his sister Muffy (Garnet) Truscott and brothers Rob (Michelle) Inglis and David (Shelley) Inglis and sister-in-law Lois Inglis and all their loving children. As well, Colin is survived by Sister-in-law Bev (Tom) Benson and Sister-in-law Linda (Frank) Robinson and all their loving children.
Colin was predeceased by his parents, Faye’s parents, and precious grandson, Slade (Cinder’s young son).
