Condolences
There are few men, that I put in the "one of the finest men" I have ever met category. But Pastor El was one of them. He loved everyone the same. He didn't treat someone who had influence or money any better than the janitor or the homeless man. His life was a living testimony of Christ on this earth. El walked the talk! Keith and I loved El and Gerry. We respected them and learned so much about how to be a " real christian", by spending time with them. This may not make sense to some. But to those, who knew El, you know exactly what I mean. I thank God for the priviledge that I had in knowing El and calling him my friend!
It was a privilege to join online for the celebration of El's life. Lots of good memories and wonderful tributes from the family. Grace and peace be with you during this time of loss.
I have such fond wonderful memories of El. He was such a great man. He and Gerry and all their beautiful kids were such a huge part of my early years and gave me such a strong foundation in my salvation. So many memories and laughs. My love to you all. I know he is with our saviour dancing laughing and eating sardines!
El, Jerry & all of our big, noisy & rambunctious family would get together every summer at grandma & grandpa Munro’s farm. We had so much fun! Well, we kids did. For the adults, it was lots of work! A wood stove with water to heat; loads of yard work & animals; plus always a diaper to change; a child to push in a wagon or swing; or another to comfort & kiss. I always remember El saying grace before each meal (at the big oak table) laden with huge platters of food. And warm hugs & blessings for us all when we headed home. So many special & happy memories. Memories that many city children don’t have. I know he will be dearly missed. Yet what a difference he’s made to his family, his community & our world.
Hi I”m Ava Jo Rea. I remember the first time I was in the home of Rev El and Geri Jones. I was amazed at their hospitality. They were hosting a celebration for their oldest son Kevin’s High School Graduation they had a visiting Pastor staying over and numerous meals and events to plan for.
It really showed me there gifting God had blessed them both with real godly shepherds with a true heart for God. I will miss Rev El who made me feel so special.
