Obituary of Janine Karen Wolton
June 23, 1956 - Red Deer, Alberta
March 4, 2024 - Okotoks, Alberta
It is a heart-breaking loss for the family of Janine Wolton, to announce her passing on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the age of 67 years.
Janine was born to Alex and Vera Reid in Red Deer, AB, on June 23, 1956, and grew up with nine siblings in Sylvan Lake, AB, then later moved to Calgary, AB. She has brought light and joy to an uncountable amount of people in her life. She was like a magnet, attracting joy, love, and kindness, all the while nurturing her many long-term close relationships.
She was one beautiful, driven, compassionate, loving soul, with the strength of an ox. She was diagnosed with MS in August of 1996, and fought the rapidly degenerative disease with vigor, humbleness, and resilience. When it got too tough, she was forced to retire and focus on her health.
Janine will be lovingly remembered for her overly generous and caring spirit, her ability to overcome adversary, and her joy for her children, Sarah and Reid, and grandchildren, Wyn and Max. She was a source of wisdom, a confidant, and someone who will give it to you straight. She loves beyond faults, to a fault.
She is survived by her children, Sarah (Chris), and Reid (Kitty); grandchildren, Wyn and Max; sisters, Carrie, Barbara, and Laura; brothers, Ronnie, George, and Larry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a plethora of loving friends.
Janine was predeceased by her parents, Vera and Alex Reid; sister Patsy (1967), brothers, Wilf (November 2020) and Alan (December 2020); niece Holly (1989), and her children’s father, Jerry Wolton (March 2022).
Her family would like to thank the medical team at the South Health Campus Hospital (Unit 5), and the caring team at Foothills Country Hospice.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice, 322001 32nd Street E, Okotoks, AB T1S 1A5, www.countryhospice.org.
We had a wonderful mother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful mother,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
She will like what she sees.
Mom, you are forever in our hearts.
