Obituary of Ivan Cabor

January 15, 1949 – Ozalj, Croatia

February 6, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Ivan Cabor, beloved husband of Boya Cabor (nee Kresic), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the age of 75 years.

Ivan, born on January 15, 1949, in Ozalj, Croatia, and moved to Calgary, AB, in 1972. In 1973, he tied the knot with Boya Cabor. Ivan was an active member of the Calgary Croatia Soccer Club and accomplished much throughout his life. He was particularly proud of winning multiple championships and awards at all levels of soccer. Apart from his love for cooking, soccer, fishing, and chess, his family held the utmost importance in his life. Ivan’s most memorable vacations was when he would travel to Las Vegas with his wife, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law.

Ivan's most cherished quote was, "Family is and will forever remain the utmost significant aspect of life.”

He will be most remembered for his caring soul, affectionate personality, outgoing honesty, and unconditional love.

Besides his loving wife, Ivan is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frank Cabor and Chandra Cabor from Calgary, AB and grandchild Maja Nicole Cabor, Calgary, AB. Ivan is also survived by his sister Biserka Madjer, from Croatia, and brother-in-law Louie Preskar, from Calgary, AB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan (Kule) and Slavka Kulusic, Ivan and Dalena Kresic, Steve and Tina Kresic from Edmonton, AB; and his father in-law Jozo Kresic from Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ivan was predeceased by his sister Marica Preskar and nephew Peter Preskar from Calgary, AB.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
