Obituary of John Jerome Gignac
September 11, 1981 – Midland, Ontario
January 18, 2024 – Okotoks, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Jerome Gignac announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 42 years, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born and raised on the Georgian Bay, ON, John's journey started at Disney's Canadian restaurant in EPCOT after college, sparking his passion for the food and beverage industry. This enthusiasm propelled him through various restaurants in his professional career while simultaneously excelling in management and sales roles within Shaw, Tervita, and SunLife, where he also formed lasting friendships. Amid these professional pursuits, his most cherished roles were becoming a loving husband and father to two beautiful girls. John's passion also extends to sharing his love of music, avidly supporting the Green Bay Packers, and enjoying time on the golf course.
John is survived by his loving wife, Katey, two beautiful young daughters, Giuliana and Livia; parents John and Heather; mother-in-law, Della, and siblings, James, Joanna, Patricia, Alberta, and Julie.
The family expresses their forever gratitude to the ALS Society of Alberta, the ALS Clinic at South Health Campus, the exceptional staff at the Foothills Country Hospice, and the compassionate and caring home care staff that included healthcare aides, nurses, occupational, physical, and respiratory therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
