Obituary of George Wambo Kenmonye
December 1, 1982 – Bamenda, Cameroon
January 23, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
George K. Wambo (14K Wambolo), beloved husband of Elizberth Akoakem, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 41 years.
George was born on December 1, 1982, in Bamenda, Cameroon, and was a resident of Calgary, AB, at the time of his passing.
George graduated from the University of Buea with a BA in Bilingual Letters before proceeding to study in both the Netherlands and Germany. Upon relocating to Canada (Calgary, AB) after studies, he did not only focus on work and family but, became a proud member of various groups, including Spirit FC, Boucantier, Bamileke Cultural Group Calgary.
He also volunteered with the Calgary Tennis Club and was known for his passion for lawn tennis, football, and basketball. He was a dedicated athlete and achieved great success in lawn tennis and was once a champion at the University Games in Cameroon.
He was an internationally certified lawn tennis coach. He also became a Canadian citizen and was happily married to Elizberth, with whom they were blessed with a daughter, Amari Kristine.
George was known for his love of travelling, tennis, and football, as well as his servant leadership attitude. In 2021, he took a memorable trip to British Columbia with four other couples, which he said was the best time he ever dedicated to himself and his family.
George will be remembered for his servant leadership attitude and his ability to always focus on solutions than problems. He was an avid Real Madrid fan and in his own words would usually say, "The team that will undo what Real Madrid has done is yet to be born!" This was his signature style of trolling other soccer fan clubs, especially those of Barcelona FC.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, daughter, and their unborn baby; five brothers, Denis, Edmond, Gerald, Etienne, and Fred Wambo; sister, Antoinette Wambo Fonmedig, and all those who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Thank you to the people, groups, and institutions that were a part of George's life, including Boucantier, The Marlborough Mall Security Team, Calgary Tennis Club, The Bamileke Cultural Group, The Cameroon - Canada National Veteran Tournament (Soccer), Spirit FC, and the big family he had become a part of here in Calgary, AB, and the entire We The True North.
