Obituary of Dennis Joseph Besenski

Dennis Besenski of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the age of 82 years.
He was born on June 5, 1941, in Humboldt, SK, and graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Moose Jaw Campus as a certified Engineering Technologist. Throughout his life, Dennis was a hard worker; he worked in a variety of jobs including being a CN engineer and owning movie theatres and drive-ins with his brothers, but his main career was working as a geotechnical engineer, helping facilitate numerous construction projects including highways, airports, and grain elevators, among others. He was employed for over 50 years.
Dennis had a passion for skiing, curling, and staying up to date with current affairs. He was proud of his achievements, especially being a successful entrepreneur and being self-reliant. Dennis had a knack for finding great deals and had a love for socializing around the game of blackjack, and was a passionate conservationist, believing that reducing energy and waste was essential for our continued survival. He also enjoyed memorable vacations with his family in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, Acapulco, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Orlando, among others.
Dennis is survived by his three sons, Derek (Tracey), Kevin (Felicity), and Christopher (Kelly); his brother Bernard (Leona), his nine grandchildren, Ryan, Allysa, Richard, Jessica, Taylor, Shalin, Devlin, Ayden, and Ava; and four great-grandchildren, Makayla, Zak, Gabriel, and Noah. He was predeceased by his son Lenard, his mother Mary, his father Steven, and his brothers, Duffy, Raymond, Leonard, and Irvin. He was also predeceased by his ex-wife Doreen, whom he shared a long-lasting and loving relationship with until she passed.
Dennis will be most remembered for always being a steady support for his family and loved ones.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to their friends, family, and everyone that reached out for their support during this difficult time.

A Gathering in Dennis’ memory will be held at McInnis & Holloway Hospitality Centre (Heritage, 1708, 16th Avenue N, across from the North Hill Shopping Centre, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
