Obituary of Alice Kimura

The Kimura family announces the peaceful passing of Alice Kimura of Calgary, AB, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 87. She was a loving wife, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Alice was born in New Westminster, British Columbia on June 10, 1936. She moved to Calgary later with her loving husband Bruce who she married in 1959.
Alice accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of her family and close circle of friends.
She worked with Calgary School Board for many years, was a member of the Fujinkai (Calgary Buddhist Temple) and participated in the Kotobuki Club. Alice was a proud member of her community and spent many hours volunteering with multiple organizations.
Alice had many passions in life. She loved bridge, bowling, line dancing, learning guitar, skiing, curling, walking the grand dogs, and golfing, as well as frequent visits to the casino. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all the Flames, Raptor, Curling, and Tennis games throughout her life. Alice was always there to cheer on her children and grandchildren in their many activities and sports that also took her around the world.
Alice had many memorable vacations. After Alice and Bruce’s retirement, they could experience world travel alongside their closest friends and family.
Alice was known for speaking her mind and her sharp wit that had kept her grandkids laughing. She was an excellent cook and those who visited never went hungry. She will be most remembered for her welcoming manner that put people at ease around her. She was a member of Shaganappi Golf for years.
Alice is survived by her three children Diane Sawa (Rick Kunimoto), Robert Kimura (Jeanine Kimura), and Elizabeth Ambedian (Dave Ambedian). She spent a lifetime filled with warmth and love prioritizing family gatherings that later included her five grandchildren Steven, Sydney, Tatum, Maren, and Nathan.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Bruce, brother Stan, father Minoru, and mother Chisae.
