During a trip to Australia to visit her daughter and family, Jeannie Leighton passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 79 years.

She is the dearly loved wife of Barry Leighton, adored mother of Brad and Martha of Calgary, and Carey and Graham of Murwillumbah; treasured grandmother of Cody and Alexander of Calgary, and Leighton and Ryenne of Murwillumbah.

Jeannie was both wholeheartedly dedicated to her family and a tireless social butterfly. From her many years working in downtown Calgary, to her winters spent in the Tweed Valley, she was loved universally and made friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Jeannie’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please bring along a favourite photo of Jeannie to commemorate her life.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Jeannie's service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
