Obituary of Ralph Griffith Herrler

Ralph Herrler, beloved husband of Wendy (nee Richardson), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the age of 75 years.

Ralph was born in Toronto, ON, on July 10, 1948. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1969 to continue his education, where he met Wendy in 1970. They married on March 17, 1973, and grew the family with the addition of two boys.

Ralph graduated from the University of Calgary in 1987 and continued to pursue a career in the financial industry. After early retirement, he drove a school bus part-time and planned his and Wendy’s vacations.

Ralph loved his family dearly and had a passion for travelling with Wendy. No one was a stranger to Ralph as he always enjoyed sharing a pun, talking about the latest sporting event, or chatting about life.

Besides his loving wife, Wendy, Ralph is survived by his two sons, Brian (partner Heather) and Tim (wife Susan); and grandchild Henry. Ralph is also survived by his sister Marion, brothers-in-law, Greg and Jack; sister-in-law Gayle, as well as numerous nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Gwen and Ronald, and sister Barb.

Ralph’s family would like to thank Rueben and all of the Urban Palliative Home Care staff members specifically. The care provided was exceptional and made both Ralph and the family as comfortable as possible during a very difficult time.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Ralph’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
