Obituary of Lorraine Shaw

April 26, 1930 – Bassano, Alberta

March 14, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Lorraine Shaw (nee Meidinger), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the age of 93 years.

Lorraine was dedicated to family her entire life. Her greatest joy was helping raise her grandchildren, Tammy, Barb, and Darren; you were our grandma, mom, and our rock; thank you for your sacrifice; we love you so much.

Later in life, she was also an extraordinary grandma-in-law to Dan, Ian, and Sue, and so loved as a great-grandma to Tory, Trey, Emersyn, Cade, Brooke, and Kennedy. We will all remember Grandma for her selfless commitment to everyone but herself. She was always there for us.

In her leisure time, Lorraine enjoyed spending cherished moments with her family, creating many gifts for others through her love of knitting, participating in crib-club activities, and sharing her famous carrot cake with loved ones.

Throughout her life, Lorraine’s selfless dedication went well beyond wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an amazing sister, aunt, cousin, and true friend to many people.

Lorraine was predeceased by her daughter Gloria, husband Bruce, three sisters, a brother, and her parents. Despite these losses and challenges in her life, she remained a pillar of strength and support for her family.

At Lorraine’s request there will be no formal service. Family and friends will gather at a later date for burial in Bassano, AB, with Bruce and Gloria as per her final wishes.
