Obituary of Pui Ki Wong 黃培基

Pui Ki Wong, beloved husband of Ching Yuen Lee, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

Pui Ki was born in Hong Kong, on April 25, 1933. He moved to Calgary, AB, from Hong Kong in 1997.

Pui Ki studied at St. Louis School in Hong Kong, where he was an active member of the harmonica club.

He married Ching Yuen in 1961. Both shared a passion for music. The couple once owned a Vespa scooter in the 60’s and travelled around Hong Kong with it.

Pui Ki accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of being a committee member of the Special Administrative Region (Causeway Bay) for the Government of Hong Kong. He voiced concerns of the community, organized various hobbies classes, and helped arrange recreational activities for families and seniors. Amongst these activities included a circus show, which was new to the general public at the time.  

He also enjoyed tennis, squash, soccer, badminton, and more. He continued these hobbies even after immigrating to Canada in 1997. He will be most remembered for his ability to enjoy an active life, whenever and wherever he was.

Besides his loving wife Ching Yuen, Pui Ki is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ka Lok and Ling; daughter Yvonne, daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Michael Tam; and five grandchildren, Ian Cheung, Irene Cheung, Emily Wong, Bosco Wong, and Hei Chun Tam.

He is also survived by his sisters, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Hong Kong.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.

先夫/嚴黃公培基府君，原籍廣東省寶安縣人氏。溯生於一九三三年農曆四月廿二日，三月十四日於卡加利Peter Lougheed醫院與世長辭，積潤享壽九十四歲。妻率眾子孫等隨侍在側，親視含殮，遵禮成服。

先夫/嚴生性好動愛玩，熱愛各種體育活動包括網球羽毛球壁球及足球等。曾擔任香港區議會分區委員及大發大廈互助委員會主席。生平多做公益事務，就任跑鵝區街坊福利會服務組主任期間，安排娛樂及旅遊活動給予區內老人及青少年。先夫/嚴的活力及愛助人的精神將銘記於後人心中。

謹擇二零二四年三月廿五日(星期一)下午五時至八時，假座金鐘殯儀館(Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre St. N. Calgary) 設靈供親友致祭惜別，翌日三月廿六日(星期二)上午十一時於金鐘殯儀館舉行喪禮，隨即出殯歸土，安葬於Rocky View Garden of Peace墓園。 忝屬
