Obituary of Patricia Margaret Embree
Patricia Embree, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 68 years.
Patricia was born in Orangeville, ON, on July 13, 1955, and moved to Calgary, AB, in November 2023.
Her friends called her Pat; she was a great listener and a peaceful person. She loved to dance, listen to blues music, curling, and knitting. She left her dear friends in Drumheller and moved to Calgary to be closer to family members. She moved into the J.E. Harris house, and Pat was welcomed by new friends who introduced her to her newfound interests in bingo, crib, and bible studies.
Pat loved to watch action movies, her favourites including movies starring Keanu Reeves or Steven Seagal, the Die Hard series, as well as Star Wars.
As an avid reader, she bunkered down at home with her favourite novel. Her favourite books to read were spy novel thrillers and, to her son’s discontent, romance novels.
Her travels focused mainly on attending curling events. She would travel across Canada to watch the Scotties and Brier events. One of her memorable moments was travelling to Las Vegas to attend the Continental Cup. In 2018, she traveled to Scotland, the birthplace of her favorite sport. She will continue to “rock on.”
Patricia will be most remembered for her gift-giving; she loved handing out her infamous pickles during the fall, chocolate cherries, and other homemade goodies.
She loved Christmas! She spoiled friends and family with presents. She would spend the entire year knitting sweaters, blankets, toques, and mittens. Her favourite Christmas foods included turkey, freshly baked buns, and Christmas pudding… please hold the vegetables.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Jessica Potter, and son-in-law Mat Potter, of Carstairs, AB. She was a proud grandma to Denton and Cheyenne Potter. She is also survived by her son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Nicole Dickson, residing in Calgary, AB.
