Obituary of Heather Jean Flanders

August 9, 1940 – Montreal, Quebec

March 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Heather Flanders (nee Knutton), beloved wife of Kenneth Flanders, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

Heather was born in Montreal, QC, on August 9, 1940, to Jeannie and George Knutton. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1959, where she met her future husband, Ken. The pair were married in 1963.

Throughout the course of her life, Heather enjoyed walking, knitting, sewing, going to aquacise classes, and camping with her family. Her devotion to family was unparalleled, and she treasured every moment spent in their company.

In March of 2020, Heather, Ken, Lisa, and Tina went to Hawaii for a dream vacation. The time was so special and will forever be a favorite memory.

Heather will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and nana. She will forever be known as a strong and creative woman who made the perfect butter tarts.

Besides her loving husband Ken, Heather is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Doug) Luijkx of Calgary, AB, and Tina (Mike) Young; and her three grandchildren, Hannah, Madison, and Jenna. Heather is also survived by her two brothers, Richard (Marie) Knutton of Edmonton, AB, and Peter Knutton of Montreal, QC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to thank all of those who cared for Heather during her final days at Chinook Hospice.

A Celebration of Heather’s Life will be held at Highwood Golf (400 7 St NW, High River, AB T1V 1M6) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
