Condolences
Nina was an icon, unlike anyone I had ever met and was filled with maternal advice, kindness, empathy and generosity. She went out of her way to help a young boy of 5 years old transported in the middle of kindergarten find a place in life on the cul-de-sac of Oakmount Place. Doran, Brodie and the new baby, Travis became surrogate siblings and I would enter their home as if it were my own (including a notable incident involving juice boxes in the garage). The world is a colder place without her in and I hope she is on a sunny patio somewhere "upstairs" enjoying a glass of boxed wine with Tish and to me, she will always be mid 30s on a patio on Oakmount Place in the sun having a glass of wine or perhaps shuttling the clan between Calgary and Phoenix. RIP Nina, you were a blessing to many of us.

It is times like this that are easy to reflect on what people make an impact on your life. To me the impact that Nina made besides her kindness and support to others and her bubbly personality was an evening many years ago when at a dinner function Nina volunteered with some others to be hypnotized. The crowd was thoroughly entertained by Nina who found humour in every situation - I laughed so hard as everyone did when the hypnotist turned to Nina and asked her name. In her very sultry, kitten voice she responded “Bambi”. Bambi - thank you for all the laughs and thank you for that wonderful memory that still makes me giggle.
I am saddened to hear that you are no longer with us and I send my deepest sympathy to all the Chernichen Family during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy

Dearest Don & sons,
I am so deeply sad that my sweet friend Nina has passed so sudden. So many wonderful memories I have. She always took care of everyone and everything. My heart goes out to all of you and condolences from my family to yours. We lost a beautiful angel and she will be missed. Prayers!
Don and Family, very sorry to hear of Nina's passing. She was always so good to me. We had many many laughs on and off the golf course, including the old BDP Stampede parties. She always took me under her wing and toured me about the parties, introducing me to everyone. I will never forget her laugh- and her strong opinions. I still have her "business card" which she gave me so long ago. In bold red it reads "Nina Chernichen-Damage Control Specialist at Chernichen Family Enterprises Ltd.".
Every time I scroll through my Address Book and see that card, it brings a big smile to my face.
Thinking of you at this time.

Deepest condolences Don, Doran, Travis and Brodie on the loss of Nina. She was a bright light and a commanding presence whenever I saw her. Her energy and enthusiasm was palpable. Lots of love to you all as you adjust to this significant loss.
Don, Doran, Brodie and Travis,
Our sincere condolences to you and all of your extended family.
Nina was a close friend many years ago when each of our 3 boys were growing up together on the same street, playing hockey and going to school. We went for many walks together, had happy hours, and enjoyed each other’s company.
We are shocked and saddened by Nina’s passing.
Hugs to all,
Bill and Judy Langen
Nina was an amazing lady! Sending all the love to the family! I’ll never forget the road trip from Vancouver to Carlsbad with Brods and Nina listening to books on tape and eating her delicious sandwiches over a funny story. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am very sad to hear of Nina’s passing. I have many fond memories of our ladies bridge group and camping trips at Mara Lake!
Don, my sympathies to you, Doran, Brodie and Travis.

I'm so sorry for Nina's passing. She always had lots to say and I expect she is giving my Dad (Bill Chernichen) an ear full, catching up where they left off before he passed in 2006. It was always entertaining to watch them banter back and forth. Never sure who actually won those volleys, but they both got a good workout. And if I'm being honest, Nina usually won.
My heart goes out to you Don and to your family.
