Gladys Clark

Obituary of Gladys Dorothy Clark

March 11, 1937 – Hafford, Saskatchewan

March 22, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With an unwavering faith in God, Gladys Clark of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 87 years, while enjoying many activities at Saint Teresa Covenant Care.

Gladys was born in Hafford, SK, on March 11, 1937, and raised on a Saskatchewan farm near Radisson, where she was baptized.

She had the opportunity to graduate from Robertson Business College, which gave her a career working at Co-operatives and many schools while raising her children, later as a realtor in Saskatoon, an American school in New Delhi, India, and retired from customer service at Bethany Lifeline and Care Center in Calgary in the year 2000.

She has lived all over this great country from the city of Guelph, Assiniboia, Lloydminster, Saskatoon, and Regina in Saskatchewan, both Edmonton and Calgary and spent much of this time being active in the United Church.

She loved her old-time music and played an accordion and a piano. Many weekends were spent with relatives and friends, playing music and filling the house with fine home cooking and joy. She had a great passion for singing and sang for many years and in many competitions with Sweet Adelines in Regina, SK.

Likely, if you knew Gladys, you received a household item that was sewn like an expert, as she would always give away her hard work. Sewing could have been a profession for her, but she chose it as a hobby, sewing many items ranging from complicated clothes to useful towels to hang from your kitchen range.

She has also had a chance to travel to many places other than India like, Alaska, Cabo San Lucas, the Panama Canal, and Mexico with many of her friends, as well as her long-time friend Bernice Hlushko, and Tom Monestersky, who was also her long-time dance partner and special friend; they loved camping in his bus together many weekends through the summer.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, Larrissa and Gianna, celebrating their uniqueness, school, and music successes.

Gladys is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law, Brenda and Dan Delvecchio, with their two daughters, Larissa and Gianna of Calgary, AB; and son Wes Clark of Spruce Grove, AB, and their father Fred Clark of West Bank Kelowna, BC.

Gladys had no siblings but is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, Joyce and Wally Schultz, Eileen and Russel Fountain, both in Radisson, SK, The Roberts cousins in Alberta and BC, Jeff and Valerie Brewis of Calgary, AB, to name a few.

Gladys was predeceased by her mother Phyllis Lindsay and father James Noehring.

She will be most remembered for her never-ending love of others!
