Obituary of Charlotte Jacoba RIETVELD

February 15, 1940 – The Hague, Netherlands

October 12, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Charlotte Rietveld on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the age of 79 years in Calgary, Alberta.

Charlotte was born in The Hague, Netherlands on February 15, 1940. It was there she met her loving husband, Rudolf, whom she married in 1959. The pair then moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1967 with their young children.

Charlotte was a successful business owner of Charlotte’s draperies. She then later graduated from Mount Royal College with a diploma as a rehabilitation practitioner. She enjoyed her career working in the community with disabled clients.

Charlotte had a great passion for golf. She was a member of the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club for many years. Charlotte was utmost proud of the life she built in Canada. She will be most remembered for being the heart of the family. She was a strong woman that looked at life’s challenges with determination and grace. She was someone that spread love and compassion to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Charlotte leaves behind her dear husband, Rudolf; and her two daughters Monique and Karin (Doug). She has four grandchildren, Justin (Jamie), Ashley, Levi, and Carly. Justin and his wife Jamie are parents to Bennett, Charlotte’s great-grandson.

A celebration of life will be held at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club (12501 – 14th Street SW, Calgary, AB) on November 17, 2019 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
