Obituary of Larry Adelard Gauthier
May 30, 1952 – Hearst, Ontario
March 27, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Larry Gauthier, beloved husband of Terry Lynn Altizer, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 71 years.
Larry was born in Hearst, ON, on May 30, 1952. He had a passion for being on the road; be it on his motorcycle journey with his brothers or transporting a load for work. Larry was very passionate about his career. He loved being around trucks and getting loads where they needed to be. Larry’s life in trucking provided him with many stories that he loved to share, often with Larry laughing so hard with his own infectious laugh. He was very generous with his time and always willing to lend a hand.
In his free time, Larry loved golfing, riding his motorcycle, playing his guitars, drums, reading, watching cooking and car shows endlessly at the same time. Larry loved to go fishing when visiting his brothers in Ontario. He cherished his annual motorcycle rides with his brothers, Bobby and Danny. Larry was a father to two sons, Jamie (Bev) and Nicholas Gauthier of Medicine Hat, AB, and two daughters, Jackelyn (Austen) Lillies of Kelowna, BC, and Jenny (Darren) Asselstine of Priddis, AB.
Larry was also a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Evan, Laine, and Chase Gauthier, Hallie and Easton Gauthier, Chase and Kody Lillies, and Braydyn and Nixxyn Asselstine. He will be remembered by his two brothers, Bobby and Danny (Colleen) Gauthier; and two sisters, Moreen Gauthier and Lynda (Silvio) Cavaliere. Larry is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Simonne and Paul-Emile Gauthier; and his daughter-in-law Kyla Gauthier.
As we say our final goodbyes, we remember Larry’s strength, love, and passion for life. He will be most remembered for how fast he talked with both his mouth and hands and the more excited he got the stronger his accent became, and he would be laughing so hard that we couldn’t understand him.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at Nanton Community Memorial Centre (2204 18 St Nanton, AB) on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Larry’s family here.
