Obituary of Christian Alexander Campbell

January 23, 1978 - Parry Sound, Ontario

Today, one of the brightest lights in our lives went out for the last time. Our beloved son, Christian was taken from us after a difficult illness, diagnosed at the end of June 2023. Christian faced the multiple challenges it brought with his usual “It is what it is” pragmatism, never complaining, and making us love him all the more for his sweetness, gentleness, and strength. We’re so very proud of Christian for his bravery and resilience in the face of such daunting odds. While we were blessed to have had the opportunity to spend every day with him during his illness, we have all been devastated beyond words by his passing.

Christian was born at the Parry Sound General Hospital on January 23, 1978. He started Kindergarten at William Beatty Public School, and after a few family moves, graduated Gr. 8 from St. John’s Catholic School in Waubaushene. He attended St. Theresa’s High School in Midland, then transferred to Midland Secondary School where he graduated with his Gr. 13 diploma. Christian went on to study Marketing at Georgian College.

Always interested in construction, Christian worked for several years in Barrie, self-employed in the roofing and renovations business. He bought his first house at age 30 and put himself wholeheartedly into renovating it in his own style. A number of years later, looking for a change and new opportunities, he sold his house and re-established himself in Edmonton as a hard working and dependable contractor. There, he bought his second house and his own company vehicles. His business, C.A. Awesome Exteriors, was taking off very nicely when he became ill. With his entire future ahead of him looking so promising, it was cut short suddenly and without notice.

Christian will be remembered for his love of life and beautiful things, creative abilities in art and architecture, his skill at home renovations, building his awesome decks, his musical talent and versatility, his ability to quote movie dialogue verbatim, and his caring, kindness, generosity, and quiet resolve.

Christian's passing has left us heartbroken, in the depths of despair, and unconsolable. We will miss him for the rest of our lives, hold him close and keep him warm in our hearts forever, and always love Christian more than words can ever express. Good-bye for now our beautiful son, we’ll be joining you soon enough, and we’ll all be together again.

Christian is survived by his mother Kathryn Tagseth and his step-father Waldemar Mucha; his brothers Arlen Campbell (Jill), and Noah Campbell (Melissa) and their son Elliot; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Irene Tagseth (nee Sutherland); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Kenneth and Ruth Campbell (nee Mahon) and their son Derek Campbell. He will be cremated.
