Obituary of Zinaida Goldin

Zina Goldin (nee Pliner), beloved wife of Lev Goldin, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Zina was born in Riga, Latvia, on June 5, 1947, and immigrated to Alberta, Canada, in 1989. She graduated from the Medical College in Riga, Latvia, with a degree in Pediatric Nursing. Zina married Lev in 1987, and together they shared a life filled with love and laughter.

Zina's vivacious spirit and zest for life were evident to all who knew her. She was admired for her warmth, style, and infectious laughter. Zina cherished her family and friends, finding joy in cooking, traveling, and nurturing her home.

Her elegance, class, and love for high fashion were matched only by her generosity and warmth towards others.

Zina will be deeply missed by her loving husband Lev, her daughter Elina and son-in-law Vlad of Toronto, ON, her son Ian and daughter-in-law Larisa of Long Island, NY, her grandchildren, Katarina and Aleksandra of Toronto, ON, and Levi and Ari of Long Island, NY.

She is also survived by Oleg Pliner and his family of St. Petersburg, Russia; cousin Anya Ryabova and her family of Moscow, Russia; cousins Zhanna and Greg Shapiro, and their children Rada and Michael of Holon, Israel; and cousin Dmitri Litvak, his spouse Shura Litvak, and their son Edward. She is also survived by many extended family and friends around the world.

Zina was predeceased by her beloved brother Joseph Pliner, who passed away in 2006.

A Gathering in memory of Zina will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
