Obituary of Paul Ernest Saner

November 20, 1938 – Metzerlen-Mariastein, Dorneck, Switzerland

April 8, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Paul Saner, beloved husband of Blanca Saner, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Paul was born in Metzerlen-Mariastein, Dorneck, Switzerland on November 20, 1938. He immigrated to Canada in 1975 and married Blanca on August 05, 1989.

After Paul finished school he joined the military. He was an aircraft observer from the age of twenty and served in the Armed Forces for seventeen years as a sergeant. Paul was also a truck driver for several years and his favorite part of that career was that he was able to transport milk to the people.

He was a member of the Calgary German and Austrian Club in Calgary. Paul accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his career in the entertainment industry. He got to travel all around British Columbia and Alberta playing music for all. It was a love and passion he had.

Paul’s most memorable vacation was when Blanca and he went to Mexico. He loved every moment of it and spoke about it all the time.

His favourite saying was “Wunderbar”. He will be most remembered for his kind acts and listening skills. Paul always had time to listen to you.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Blanca, sister Susann, brother-in-law Michel, two daughters, Denise, and Sonia; two sons, Peter, and Mike; stepson Oscar (Bernadette), eight grandchildren, Ashlly, Tiffany, Simon, Marc, Jessica, Alejandro, Nicholas, and Christopher; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 40 St SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 40 St SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to pay respects prior to Mass for a brief viewing may do so at 12:30 p.m. Reception to follow at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB).

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Saner’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
