Obituary of Jacob Alex Kaquitts

Our dear Jacob Kaquitts made his journey home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of fifteen years. He was our son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend.

Jacob attended the Morley Elementary School from kindergarten to grade one. Then later continued his education at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. He enjoyed playing his favorite games, Super Mario and Fortnite with his brothers and watching funny videos on TikTok and YouTube. Jacob loved his pet hamster Timmie.

Jacob was a warrior from the moment he was born. Living with the greatest battle within him. His illness caused him immense pain every day, pain that none of us can comprehend. Yet, he smiled, laughed, and was grateful. Jacob’s life was full of countless visits to the hospital. He persisted, showing great courage and strength until our Father in heaven said it was his time to come home.

Jacob leaves behind to mourn his loving grandma Karen Kaquitts whom he called Mommy, his mother Florendra, siblings, Frank, Tyson, Floydena, Cody, and Akessha; special aunties Toni (Callen) and Larrisa (Harry),  uncles, Eric (Sadie) and Clint (Tessa); auntie Chantel (Trennen), grandpa Floyd (Yolanda) Crawler, auntie Denean Poucette, great-great-grandma Annie Wesley, and numerous grandpas, grandmas, uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Jacob was predeceased by his father Thomas Kaquitts, grandpa Alister Twoyoungmen, grandma Denise Poucette, aunties, Floydena and Manisha Poucette; and uncle Maverick Poucette.

Jacob’s family would love to express their gratitude to the staff of Unit 3, Complex Care Unit, and Stoney Health Services, for their care and support throughout the years. With great respect and appreciation, we thank you all.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Karen Kaquitts (Mînî Thnî, AB) on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at Bearspaw Youth Centre (Mînî Thnî, AB) on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Kaquitts Family Cemetery (Mînî Thnî, AB).
