Obituary of Chad Golden Martin
March 6, 1976 – Calgary, Alberta
April 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heartbreaking sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Chad Golden Martin, along with his father, Willard, in the early evening of Friday, April 19, 2024, while they were working on a car together. Chad was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, whose loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Chad was born to Willard and Linda Martin on March 6, 1976, in Calgary, AB. He grew up on the ski hill in the winter and spent summers water skiing, wakeboarding, and camping at Shuswap Lake with his family. Chad cherished every moment spent with his parents, his brother, and his best friend Steve, and he adored his little sister Suzie. Chad graduated from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1995. He earned his Red Seal Journeyman Gas and Steam Fitter License from NAIT in 2000. He embarked on a career in the oil and gas industry, working at various sites and shops in Northern Alberta and Calgary. Chad later found his calling as a Maintenance Planner and Scheduler for TC Energy and Nutrien, where he worked until his passing. His coworkers weren’t just colleagues, they became great friends, sharing countless laughs and jokes with each other.
He was passionate about cars. He loved working on them and modifying them. Chad’s hands were always busy tinkering and fixing. His garage was his sanctuary, filled with projects and memories, often shared with his father by his side. He had an endless list of things to do and projects to tackle. He was never one to sit idle. His “tool library” was frequently accessed by his friends on the street. He was the go-to guy, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Chad was a loyal friend; his infectious laughter and jokes brought joy to those around him. A good time was guaranteed if you were in Chad’s presence. He had a cherished group of friends that he maintained from childhood until this day—making many memories from racing cars, a trip to Thailand and Bali, trips to the lake, meetings at the pub, and camping trips. He loved and valued every friendship he made and treasured his street family.
He loved and cherished his dogs. He could always be seen going for car rides, walks, and snuggling with them. He was predeceased by his dog Millie and is leaving behind his dog Mavis.
Chad met the love of his life, Natasha, in 2004 through mutual friends. They were married on September 5, 2009, and their bond was unbreakable. Chad’s playful sarcasm, quick wit, and incredible sense of humour kept their relationship vibrant, always finding joy in laughter together. They were each other’s balance, with Chad’s organized nature complementing Natasha’s spontaneity. They were perfect teammates in life together, and Chad did everything to provide for their kids and family to give them the best life.
Chad and Natasha have three beautiful children together, Miah, Jake, and Edie. Chad was an avid skier and boater, sharing his enthusiasm for these activities with his children. He loved camping and instilled his love for the outdoors in his children, always being a hands-on parent, cheering them on at their activities, and volunteering with their teams. Chad was beyond proud of his children for everything they have accomplished thus far. He wholeheartedly supported them in everything they did. He loved playing games with Tash and the kids, who all have competitive spirits.
Chad asked for so little but gave so much. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will forever be remembered by all who loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Chad leaves behind his loving wife Natasha and his three children, Miah, Jake, and Edie; mother Linda, brother and best friend Steve (Amy), and their daughters, Emersyn and Mckinleigh; sister Suzie (Jason) Risi, in-laws, Kathy and Eric MacRae; brother-in-law Joel (Crystal) and their sons, Grady and Finley; brother-in-law Francis (Melissa) and their children, Max and Olivia. Chad has numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with friends who will miss him dearly.
Chad was predeceased by his Martin grandparents, and Dollar grandparents, along with his dog, Millie.
“Goodbyes are not forever; goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean, we’ll miss you until we meet again.”
