Obituary of Nella Pacione

Nella Pacione (nee Massari), affectionately known as “Nella Bella”, beloved wife of Nino Pacione, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

Nella was born in L’Aquila, Italy on April 25, 1934. Shortly after marrying Nino by proxy (Nino’s father), she immigrated to Canada in October 1957 where Nino was patiently waiting for her.

Nella accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. Nella’s door was always open to all. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and sewing. Nella’s most memorable vacation was when she was able to travel back to Italy and Kelowna, BC, with family.

Nella is survived by her sons, Joe (Chris) Pacione, David Pacione, Carlina (Mike) Nori; and grandchildren, Nicolas, Angelica, Justin, and Adam. Nella is also survived by her sister Silvia of Italy, sisters-in-law, Iole of Italy, Fernanda of Italy, Maria of France, Marilena of Calgary, and Angela of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Nino, and many extended family members.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at McInnis & Holloway Heritage Funeral Services (Hospitality Center, 1708 16 Avenue NW, Calgary AB).
