Obituary of Joan Patricia Delorme

Joan Delorme of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 87 years.
Joan was born to Jack and Jessie Giles in Shepard, AB, on August 8, 1936. She was the youngest of seven siblings with four brothers, Terry, John, Barney, and Merv; and two sisters, Thora and Jean.
She spent her childhood on the farm west of Shepard and moved to the ranch in Cochrane with her family in 1969. In 1975 she moved to Calgary to start work at Trendcraft and was a dedicated employee for many years.
In her free time, Joan enjoyed crafts and sewing which she often shared with family and friends or donated to fundraisers.
Joan married Woody Delorme in 1996 and they were very happy up until his passing in 2012. Joan moved back to Cochrane, into town this time, and lived at Big Hill Lodge, where she received great care, especially during COVID. She later moved into the Memory Care ward at Hawthorne in the fall of 2022.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her siblings. She did not have any children of her own but is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, to whom she was a great Auntie Joan.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hawthorne in Cochrane for their exceptional care of Joan for the last year of her life.
