Condolences
I was saddened to hear of Ron's passing and my sincere condolences. I have fond memories as a young soccer player at Triwood and my team mate Stewart. Ron was always active in the soccer world and I also have great memories of Lina.as well. Ron was certainly a memorable character and gracious and true gentleman as well.
He also did not put up with any guff.
RIP RON. Well deserved.
I always loved when I had a change to speak with Ron and I always had a belly full of laughs when he had a story to tell or listening to him MC an event. We send our thoughts and prayers and deepest condolences to Susanne and Derek and the entire family.

Ron was such a wonderful person and he has made us smile and laugh out loud so many times. The world will be a much smaller place without Ron and Lena in it but knowing they are together again makes my heart happy. We will miss you my friend. I know wherever you are, you will keep everyone smiling. Our hearts go out to the family. Barb and Gary Gibson
There are Heroes in our lives we seldom acknowledge. Ron was one of mine. He was a man's man. He knew how to get things done with the most important resources he had; the people he worked with! He remembered our names; he exemplified what being a gentleman meant. He has earned his rest! Peter Johnston
Susanne & Derek, Sending my deepest condolences for your loss. Your Dad was a legend Susanne. He was deeply respected and will be deeply missed. Karen Stoshnof
Please accept my deepest condolences, Ron was my first INSPECTOR in District 1 in 1979. I admired his dedication, leadership and commitment to the Calgary Police Service , Ron had a huge influence on my police career, the memories will last forever rest in peace.
To explain what Ron meant to so many people, and organizations, would require more space than is provided in this Tribute.. Ron Tarrant was an icon to the Calgary Police Service, The Calgary Police Vets, and to any other organization to which he contributed to, which there are many. I have known Ron for approx 50 yr, and and not once did he not take the time to answer a question, that I might have had both as a serving member, and a member of the Calgary Police Vets. A better or more knowledgeable encyclopedia was not to be found. He had the knowledge, and the resources to assist at a moments notice, and always did.
Ron was one of my favorite people in this world, and I was proud to call him a friend, and will be more than just missed. Ron is irreplaceable. Rest in complete peace my friend, and Lorraine's and my condolences to his family and loved ones.

My deepest Sympathies Tarrant Family. I have many memories of your father, Susanne as he was a terrific supervisor, friend and mentor!….. Ron supported the policewomen with a huge voice to the upper echelons. A gentle giant, kind hearted and sensitive are just a few fond words that would describe your Dad. Ron will be missed by many and remembered by many more. Take good care of you and your family, sending hugs!
Our sincerest condolences to the Tarrant family, Suzanne, Stewart and all the Grand Children, great grandchildren. I loved working for Ron because you did not know what kind of Hijinx he was planning next. Often his plans involved (the late)... Lina, a loverly lady, in one way or another and she was just as mischievous. I had the pleasure of visiting with Ron on the 15th April and we spent a great hour reminiscing some of our work days together talking about the various ways he made our work day interesting. I am a little lost for words right now as we try to keep everything straight. Bev and I can only say we have nothing but the deepest respect for Ron, both personally and Professionally. Rest in Peace my friend....you will not be forgotten....Jack and Bev Mullins at Calgary.
I was very saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. When I was just a rookie in 1980, I recall listening to a group of sergeants casually talking about "Ron Tarrant". They were speaking of him with such reverence, that I remember thinking he must be quite the person. Several years later, I was fortunate enough to meet and speak with him and I immediately understood why he was held in such high esteem by so many. Just last year, following a CPVA luncheon, I had the privilege of sitting beside him at the Cuff as he regaled a few of us with some of his many interesting stories. He was truly a remarkable man. May he rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to Susanne, Derek, Devon and all the Tarrant family members.
Nadine and I offer our deepest condolences to you all. Ron was a great leader and led by example. I will always remember his great laugh and emcee stories. He will be deeply missed and remembered.
We are so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I know how much his smile brightened your day and others around him. I best remember him when he was the media spokesperson for the CPS. The community loved him and he never hesitated to hold a reporter accountable for his writings or inappropriate questions. A true legend in the CPS.
Rest in peace my friend till we meet again.
My sincere condolences to Stewart and Susanne, and the rest of the family members. I met Ron as a civilian in CPIC and he was always cheerful and uplifting when he would stop in and joke with us. He was there to shake my hand when I became a sworn member. He may not be with us, but his memories are still there.
Please accept my condolences, may he Rest in Peace. Joan Gourdinne
Solas na bhFlaitheas ar a anam uasal. (Light of Heaven on his noble soul). Ron was and always will be a Legend for those who were lucky enough to know him; our lives were enriched by his presence.
I have such fond memories of Ron. He swore me in on my first day with the Calgary Police Service, working in PIMS, in 1980. I was fresh off the boat from the UK (literally been in Canada 19 days). Bobby Deans, who was the PIMS supervisor at the time, didn't tell Ron I was from UK, so Ron's face when I started to swear the oath was a picture! Please accept my sincere condolences to you all, for the loss of this lovely man who was such a bright light to so many.
I remember Mr. Tarrant from various police family events. In particular, after all these years, I remember his kindness. Mr. Tarrant was a truly nice man. I hope his family takes comfort in an abundance of happy memories.
We have lost a tremendous man of great integrity. He served as mentor to so many. I recall his being our criminal law instructor when training was in Mount Royal College and he would not tolerate 'mugwumps'. He was good enough to explain to us that these were wee little birds that would sit on the fence wire with their mug on one side and their 'wump' on the other and they could never decide which side of the fence they should be on. He also had a low tolerance for certain tie tacks...
He will be missed greatly
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of such an incredible man. His love and guidance will forever be a part of you, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew Ron. I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate through this difficult time.
Beloved Family of Ron.
My heartfelt prayer for your peace and comfort goes out to you during this difficult hour. Your Dad was a force of nature, a man
seldom encountered these days. His wit, charm and wisdom is rarely equalled, and he will certainly be missed as well by the
many Police Officers with whom he served. He was my Inspector in Ident for some time, and one could not work for a more
supportive person than He. He will always bring thoughts of friendship and laughter to my mind. Rest in peace dear Ron.
