Obituary of Percival Jonayon

April 12, 1944 - Cagayan de Oro, Philippines

Percival Jonayon beloved husband of Leticia Nazareno Jonayon of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the age of 80 years.

Percival was born in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines on April 12, 1944.

He married Leticia in 1979, and he emigrated from the Philippines and moved to Toronto, ON, Canada in 1986.

Percival accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of all his achievements. He was a Friends of Jesus Christ, Canada member and volunteered in multiple Food Banks.

Percival enjoyed being with his family and loved fellowshipping with the Senior Ministry members, reaching out to the community through outreaches and volunteering.

Percival’s most memorable vacation was going to Israel for pilgrimage and attending the Feast of Tabernacle.

Percival’s favourite Bible verse was in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. 

He will be most remembered for his loving discipline and his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Besides his loving wife, Percival is survived by his two daughters and two sons-in-law, Gladys McQuilkin (Cameron) and Joanna (Daniel) of Toronto, ON; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Enrique (Crespina) of Calgary, AB, and Rafael (Joanne) of Toronto, ON; and nine grandchildren, Camyrah, Cameron, Camdyn, Camillo, Erica, Abichail, Techiya, Ava, and Lucas.

Percival is also survived by his two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lando (Rosario) and Rodrigo (Annaliza) of Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, Philippines; his sister Vivian of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Percival was predeceased by his brother Victor Jonayon.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Cochrane Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
