Condolences
Joanne and Family:
I was saddened to learn of Ken’s recent passing. My condolences to all of you in this difficult time. Ken will be missed and remembered with respect by so many friends and business associates from his years in the natural gas industry.
I first met Ken in 1970 when I joined Alberta Natural as a financial analyst in the treasury group. Shortly thereafter I was introduced to Ken’s late afternoon meetings. Invited attendees were generally younger professionals and Ken would lay out for our attention some issue that might affect the Company. Ken knew how he wanted things handled, he was giving us an opportunity to expand beyond our technical expertise.
Ken’s only input was to redirect us if we were getting too far off track. That redirection was never critical, never aimed at an individual, merely an idea that might be worthy of consideration. Over time we learned, but we were never taught. And, as a result, we were prepared for additional responsibilities.
On a more personal note, I will always remember Ken taking me golfing one day at Earl Grey. Over a beer, he suggested that I should join the club and he offered to introduce my application. The end result is that I have now enjoyed over 50 years of golf and new friends.
Thank you, Ken.
Sincerely,
Gord Noland
