Robert “Bob” Bye, beloved husband of Marian Bye, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 82 years, in Calgary, AB.
Bob was born on December 27, 1941, in Lethbridge, AB, and grew up in Milk River, AB. As a young man, he moved to Calgary, and after a brief stint with the Calgary Police Force, he moved into the construction industry, where he was employed for 30 years at Lafarge Canada. After retiring from Lafarge for one day, and further fueling his passion for aggregates, he became one of the owners of Fish Creek Excavating and retired for the second time in 2007.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed hunting, playing softball, curling, and golfing and was an avid sports fan, his favourite team being the Toronto Blue Jays. In addition to sports, Bob and Marian enjoyed many worldwide travel adventures as a couple, and with their family and friends. He loved spending time with his family and was always tinkering in his garage. Bob was extremely proud of his children; son Darcy (Kim) and daughter Natalie, and his grandchildren, Katelynn, Natasha, Roan, Grayson, and Veronica. He was married to the love of his life, Marian, for 56 years and was a devoted husband.
Bob will always be remembered for his passion for spending time with his loved ones, laughing, playing games, and enjoying a good meal. He was kind, caring, generous, and always had a smile on his face.
He was predeceased by his parents, Willmot Pearl Bye and Gladys Irene Bye; and sisters, Luella Metheral and Lois Strome. He will be greatly missed by his sister Glady Dougan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
