Leo George Kemery was born on April 13, 1933, in High River, AB. He died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the age of 91 years.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife Mavis; children, Aaron (Grace) and Michelle (Simon); stepchildren, Carol (Paul), Barry (Rhena), and Gillian (Neil); grandchildren, Briana and Joshua; step-grandchildren, Sean, Alyssa, and Ruby; step-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; brothers-in-law, Albert and Alvin; sisters-in-law, Rose (Garth) and Rhonda (Ernie); and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Leo was predeceased by his first wife Anne; his parents, Winebert and Lucinda Kemery; brothers, Marvin, Melvin, Joseph, Oliver, and Allan; sisters, Evelyn, Vona, Florence, Clarabelle, Gwen, Rosita, and Babetta; step-granddaughter Jennifer.
Leo was a kind and gentle man. He loved music, the outdoors, and a good game of crib, checkers, or chess. He loved people, often recounting tales, and events from decades ago, complete with names of distant relatives, farmers, and ranchers of the old west. Leo loved his family, working hard to support and guide them. Leo’s love extended to spiritual things like prayer, the bible (up to the end he could recall key scriptural thoughts), and most of all, Jehovah God. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1970. Because of all these qualities, and many more, he was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Thank you to all the staff at Trinity Lodge and Chinook Care Centre who treated Leo like family—providing respectful, tender, and compassionate care. We have cherished your tireless efforts!
