Obituary of Peter Nicholas Harcsa
January 6, 1985 – Calgary, Alberta
May 7, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Peter Harcsa of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 39 years; a life cut way too short.
Peter was born in Calgary on January 6, 1985. He had many friends and was so easy to talk to. He would go up to complete strangers and strike up conversations on any topic. He also enjoyed photography, always following his kids around with his camera or striving to get the perfect pictures of aurora nightscapes. Peter had a natural ability to fix and upgrade computers, participating frequently in open-source community testing, and coding software. He had been taking computers apart and rebuilding them since he was a young boy.
He was also fond of reading about science and medicine and hoped to one day enter the medical field. Most of us felt he could challenge the MCAT exam and would have been accepted into medical school in a heartbeat. His brain was like a sponge; he was a passionate advocate for mental health and a frequent participant at SMART recovery (Airdrie, Alberta), where he often shared his life journey of hope, while compassionately supporting others in difficulty.
Peter often spoke about his amazing childhood and how he was so grateful for everything he had and every adventure he experienced. Some of his best memories that he spoke so fondly of included building amazing Lego creations, and playing warcraft, D&D, and Magic all night long growing up. He loved being in Scouts and adored board games and chess, playing them frequently. He always said nothing is more important than family and fiercely loved the time spent with his own.
Peter was exceptional at kneeboarding and loved boating and camping. He truly believed everything happened for a reason and that we all learn and grow from each encounter on this earthly journey. He had a very kind heart and a gentle soul.
He loved his boys more than life itself and wished for them nothing less than the moon and the stars. He loved animals so much and had so many pets growing up, always having time to cuddle every animal that crossed his path. Peter was very spiritual, and he was embracing his faith more and more with each passing year.
Peter is survived by his children, Indra and Chander (Christina); mother Kathleen (Bob), uncle Jim (Kari), sisters, Ildiko and Kristina; brothers, Mark and Keith; cousins, Zsuzsi, Lenke, and Emese; along with many extended family members in Calgary and Hungary.
He was predeceased by his dear grandfather Papa (Julius), grandmother Mama (Piroska), his father Csaba, and his two uncles, Julius and Thomas.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
You are so, so, very loved Peter. May you rest in peace, until we meet again.
The family will be planning a Memorial Service at a future date.
