May 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lorenzo Dacaster Jeff Chiniquay “Wagîyâ” on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 34 years.
Lorenzo was a very kind-hearted, generous, brave, and loving person. His father Dacster was his best friend. Lorenzo liked to greet every single person he met with a handshake, and always made a new friend wherever he went. He always made you smile with his funny jokes. He was an excellent breakdancer, skateboarder, and snowboarder. At an early age, his father taught him to hunt and fish, and he picked up these skills very quickly. He went on to become a great hunter and fisherman. He also had a strong bond with all animals, he even trained his dog Whizy to speak, Whizy knew how to say “hello” and “dad”. He was a natural horseman and his bond with horses was remarkable. He loved all his family and friends very dearly.
Lorenzo is survived by his dad Dacster (Bobbi-Jo) Amos, brother Dacster Jr. Chiniquay, mother Pamela Chiniquay, aunties, Brenda (Jackson) Wesley, Victoria Amos, Evelina (Keon) Amos, Cornelia Amos, Valeria Chiniquay and Marjorie Wildman; uncle Carver (Jackie) Salter; grandparents, Bruce Dixon, and Larry and Lydia Daniels; and brother-in-law Adam. He had relatives from the Twoyoungmen, Smalleyes, Powderface, Dixon, Kaquitts, Amos, Holloway, Hunter, Chiniquay, Salter, and Daniels families. He also had many relatives in Mînî Thnî, Big Horn, Eden Valley, Paul Band, and in BC. The family apologizes if we have missed anyone.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Wilfred and Caroline Amos, and maternal grandfather Lawrence Chiniquay.
Funeral Services will be held at Bearspaw Youth Center (Mînî Thnî, AB) on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Mînî Thnî, AB) with a reception to follow at Bearspaw Youth Center (Mînî Thnî, AB).
