May 13, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Amanda Smith of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 42 years.
Amanda was born with a rare syndrome and had many struggles throughout her life but persevered with determination and love from her family and friends.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and watching both movies and sports. As a season ticket holder with the Calgary Stampeders, she enjoyed going to many games. Amanda would always meet up with her football buddies, Aunt Betty, and Uncle Ray. She also attended a few Calgary Flames games, always wearing her team’s jersey and cheering on the home team.
Amanda is survived by her mom and stepdad, Debbie and John; two brothers and a sister, James Smith, Michael Linnington, and Jennifer Linnington; her cousins, Kenneth and Kathy, and their families; her Aunt Barb, and a large extended family whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her grandma and grandpa Smith, Uncle Ken, Uncle Ray, Aunt Betty Goodwin, and her Uncle Tim and Aunt Helen Cryer.
With her passing her family would love to extend their deep appreciation to all the staff at Bethany Calgary for their continued care for the three years Amanda was there. Amanda considered them all family and loved them all dearly. The family would also like to say thank you to the staff at Unit 36, for their dedication and support to Amanda while she was at the Special Services Building.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. As Amanda was devoted to her teams, the family has asked you to wear your favourite jersey in her honour.
