Obituary of Carol Sue Williams

The family of Carol Sue Williams are saddened to announce her passing on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

Carol was born in Calgary and was married to Keith for 64 years. They had three children and lived most of their married life in the community of Varsity.

In her younger years, Carol enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, boating, and water skiing at the family home in Windermere, BC. As a Calgary Winter Club member, she was an accomplished curler winning the City Championship, and as a member of our mixed curling team that won the club championship and went on to win the Citywide Curling Championship. Carol was an avid runner in her younger years, and Carol and Keith enjoyed walks along the river almost every day in their retirement.

Travel was always an adventure, and she did the planning and budgeting for their adventures, which included visiting most of the U.S. states, all the Canadian provinces, islands in the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, and eighteen countries in Europe with friends.

The onset of Parkinson’s Disease changed everything for the whole family. It is not an individual disease as all functions of the family change. Eventually moving to a seniors’ retirement residence took the load of care, so she was in a position to visit, play cards, or just enjoy the garden. However, Carol had several surgeries which aided the progression of her Parkinson’s challenge.

Carol entered the hospital on Friday, April 19, after difficulties from a fall. After 24 days in the hospital, she passed away with family members at her side. Thank you to family and friends for your incredible support during this difficult process.

A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club on Tuesday June 25 from 1:30 - 4:00pm.
