Photos
This is a continuation of my condolences sent today. I wish to share some happy memories, both recent and distant, In the hopes that they will bring comfort to all who feel Manfred’s loss. In September 2023 I invited Dr. Prokop and his wife Nova to be surprise guests of honour at My good friend Hannah Noerenberg’s going away party, hosted at her sister Agnes at the old Noerenberg family home in Scott Haven, Sherwood Park. The invited guests were mostly former German club and German department University students back in the 80s and early 90s, a Testament to the social cohesiveness and positive vibe of this department that Manfred led all those years. We all had the highest regard for Manfred, and some had wished to follow in his footsteps professionally. It was a wonderful reunion, Great to see him one more time, and to meet Nova. It’s spoke to the generosity of his spirit that he drove all the way from Okotoks to Sherwood Park, also his former home, to see all of the old “student fan club” (sic) again and wish Hannah and her husband Martin well with their move. Included in these photos is one from the late 1980s ca 1987, When the German club put on its annual variety show, and we had called upon several of the German department members to serve in cameo rolls. Dr. Prokop is sitting at the table. Such a good sport! Included in these Sept 2023 photos left to,right, besides Manfred and Nova, are Linda MacDonald, Andrew Lukat, Hannah Noerenberg, Todd Peterson standing (only) in the 1980s photo, And the group shot also includes, besides the aforementioned, Christin Hilbert, Dirk Jessen, go to Stoyke, Richard Krauss, and in the centre of the photo behind the cat, hosts Dave and Agnes Melax. May God bless all of you in your grief.
