Obituary of Lucia Serpico

Lucia Serpico passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 93 years, surrounded by her loving family.

She loved being a devoted mother and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucia participated and thrived in life, regardless of the many challenges she faced when immigrating from Europe to Canada as a young female. We will always and forever be grateful for being a part of her life and for all the wonderful teachings that we gained from her insights… and of course how to make a great lasagna.

Lucia was born in Italy and grew up in Marigliano, Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1956 and set roots in Calgary, AB. Lucia is survived by her loving daughters, Anna Maria (Len), Aurora (Mike), Sylvia (Roger), Ersilia, and Lucy. She was predeceased by her loving daughter Luvisa and grandson Anthony.

Lucia will be deeply missed by the living bright lights in her life: Leah (James), Ryan (Susan), Jessica (Mark), Jordan (Aidan), Alanna, Lukas (Jordan), and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Luca, and Sienna; and her siblings, Felice (Vittoria), Giovanni (Carmela), and Rosetta.

Lucia’s spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., with an interment service to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3A6).
