Obituary of Louise Glugosh

January 12, 1940 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

May 24, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Louise Glugosh, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Louise was born in Winnipeg, MB, on January 12, 1940, and moved to Calgary in 1989.

Louise’s life was devoted to her family, faith and taking care of her mom, Teenie, until her passing several years ago. As a young woman, she spent time in the Women’s Junior Air Corp in Winnipeg. In her middle years, determined to finish her schooling, she passed her GED with flying colors and rediscovered a life-long passion for writing and poetry. 

Louise spent her career in the food service industry holding progressively more challenging positions until she retired in the early 2000’s.  Louise enjoyed her work, meeting new people and new challenges every day.

Some of her favourite times were those spent with her mom, brother, and sister-in-law in Calgary; or when her brothers and their families came to visit. A great canasta card player she loved nothing more than “going out” and catching all her brothers with a handful of cards.

Louise is survived by her oldest brother Kenny and his wife Evelyn of Toronto, ON, and her younger brother Garry and his wife Sheri of Winnipeg, MB, along with many nieces and nephews.

Louise was predeceased by her father Alex of Winnipeg, her mother Teenie, and her brother Richard (Ritchie) of Calgary.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of AgeCare Midnapore, who treated her like their own during the last decade of her life.
