Obituary of Elaine Soon

November 11, 1938 – Vancouver, British Columbia

May 24, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Elaine Soon, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 85 on Friday, May 24, 2024, after a brief illness.

Elaine is survived by her friend and ex-husband, Phillip Soon, son Roy (Nancy) and their children, Julie, and Steven; daughter Sonya (Benn Leong), and youngest son Kirby (Lauralee) and their daughter Lauren.

Mom/Grandma was the heart of our family; always bringing us together for dinners and celebrations. Elaine will be truly missed by her extended family in B.C. and Calgary.

She was a very talented knitter; family and friends were so lucky to receive her works of love. Inn from the Cold, and the Drop-In Centre received thousands of her knitted hats, scarves, and mittens over the last several years. She specifically knitted ultra-soft toques for cancer patients at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital especially Dr. Michael Tsoi who was so very compassionate, patient, and supportive.

At Elaine’s request, no service will be held.
