Obituary of Domenico David Antonacci
February 25, 1938 – Calascio, L’Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy
May 26, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Domenico Antonacci of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
Domenico moved to Canada from Italy to find opportunity and to be close to his sister, her husband, and their growing family. Domenico graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, having learned the trade of sheet metal work. He was proud of this accomplishment and was also proud of having worked on the construction of many hospitals and schools throughout Western Canada. Domenico retired only after the demands of his work took a toll on him physically. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening and getting to know his neighbours. Domenico was always someone who enjoyed telling a joke or a tall tale, but most importantly he was always a person who tried to be wherever he was needed.
Domenico was predeceased by his father Nicola Antonacci, his mother Rosina Antonacci, brother-in-law Alex Fulgenzi, and many beloved friends and relatives. His surviving family is small in number but full of fond memories that will sustain them and ensure that Domenico's spirit lives on. He is survived by his sister Maria Fulgenzi, his brother Renzo Antonacci, his niece Ida Fulgenzi and her husband Jamie Dumonceaux, and his nephew Tony Fulgenzi, his wife Jennifer, and their son Peter.
